Merman!RomanoxReader: A Dreamlike Summer Ch.1

The school bell rang, signaling the end of the school year and a LONG summer vacation. You weren't as excited as you usually were when summer break starts. The reason being,you didn't have any plans.

You were walking out of the school building when you heard someone shouting your name.

"________!"

You turned around to see your German friend,Gilbert and his younger brother,Ludwig.

"Hey,Gil what's up?" You said,smiling.

"West and I were wondering if you have any plans for the summer."

"Errr..nothing in particular. Why you ask?" You asked.

"Awesome,because the awesome me would like to invite you to go to the beach with us." Gilbert said.

You shrugged."Sounds cool,why not? How long is the trip?"

"We plan to stay for the whole summer.Our parents own a beach house,so it's okay."Ludwig explained.

"Is anyone else going besides us?" You asked.

"We invited Arthur and Heracles to come too." Gilbert said.

"So,does that make me the only girl that's going? I don't think I feel comfortable going with a bunch of guys."

"Don't worry,Elizabeta's coming with us too." Ludwig said.

You sighed in relief.

"Okay I'll come."

"Awesome! We'll pick you up tomorrow." Gilbert said,winking.

*Le timeskip*

"Whoa! It's so big!" You exclaimed in awe when you saw the house where you and your friends will be staying.

"Kesesese,Pretty awesome right? Not as awesome as me though."

You rolled your eyes at Gilbert's comment. You suddenly felt an arm wrap around your shoulders. It was your best friend, Elizabeta.

"This is going to be fun,don't you think,_______?" She asked.

You laughed nervously,"I guess so."

Elizabeta giggled."I brought some yaoi manga in case you get bored."

You blushed. Both you and Elizabeta were yaoi fangirls, but Elizabeta was more open about it than you were.

"Gee,thanks" You replied,walking into the house.

You were spacing out and it took Gilbert a while to get your attention.

"_______!________!" Gilbert shouted while he waved his hand in front of your face.

"Huh? What is it,Gilbert?" You said after you snapped out of your trance.

"Jeez,_______, zoning out when the awesome me is talking to you."

"Seriously,what do you want?"

"Just want to tell you where your room is. Go upstairs then all the way down the hall. It's in between Elizabeta and Arthur's rooms. You're lucky,______, your room has the best view." Gilbert explained.

You walked to your room, following Gilbert's directions. You entered the room and dropped all your things on the floor. You opened the balcony door adn you were greeted with a soft breeze,bright sunlight, and as Gilbert said,an amazing view.

"Wow! This is so cool!" You said excitedly.
You ran back into your room and dug through your bag until you found your sketchbook and a pencil. You went back out to the balcony,dragging a chair behind you, sat down,and started drawing the scene in front of you. You were so engrossed in your drawing,that when someone tapped your shoulder,you shrieked.You turned around to see Heracles,with a cat resting on his head.

"What is it,Heracles?" You asked the Greek boy, as nicely as you could.

"We're all going to the beach right now,get ready." Heracles said bluntly.

"Okay,thanks."

The boy nodded before leaving your room.

'I should've told him to knock next time' You thought.

You looked at your almost finished drawing and sighed in disappointment.

"Oh well, I can always finish it later." You said to yourself

You closed your sketchbook and went to go change into your (favorite color) swimsuit.

*Le Timeskip,again*

"Come on,______.What's the point of coming if all you're gonna do is draw pictures? That's so un-awesome." Gilbert complained.

You rolled your eyes and ignored him. You suddenly felt water splash onto you, soaking both you and your sketchbook.You glared at Gilbert,who had a water gun in his hands. Your sketchbook was an important thing to you and if someone does anything to it, shit goes down.

"It's alright,______,you can go kick Gilbert's ass,I'll watch your sketchbook." Heracles said,while petting his cat.

You smiled at him and grabbed a water gun that happened to be near you and started chasing Gilbert all over the beach. Eventually, Arthur,Elizabeta,and Ludwig became your targets too.

You were now hiding from Arthur.

"________! Where is that bloody git?" You could hear Arthur yell.

You giggled as you climbed up a large rock,well, it was more of a small cliff.'It's pretty high up here.I could be like a sniper or something.' You thought.

"What's pretty girl like you doing up here?" a husky voice said.

You turned around to see a man wearing sunglasses and had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.You felt the blood drain from your face. This guy was one of those guys who like to pick up girls and if the girl refused,she would get beaten,kidnapped,or raped.You've seen enough news reports and anime to know that much.

You put on the best tough face you could and said,"None of your business"

"Ah,don't be like that,girl. Why don't you come with me? I'll be fun."

"No thanks,I prefer good looking guys,so you're not my type."

The man grabbed your wrist,causing you to drop your water gun. Your (e/c) eyes showed anger and hostility, but inside, you freaking out.

"Hey,fuck off!" You said angrily.

"Fiesty aren't you? I like it."

"An ugly old man,who probably didn't date enough in high school,no me gusta." You spat back at him.You punched him as hard as you could with your free hand, causing the man to let go of your wrist. You backed away slowly until you were on the edge of the rock. You looked at the ocean below you and gulped.

'Looks pretty deep.' You thought.

"You bitch! I'll teach you a lesson!" The man shouted as he charged at you. He grabbed your shoulders and pushed you off the cliff.

"_________!!!" You heard one of your friends scream before you hit the water.

You felt yourself sink deeper and deeper. Your lungs burned as the filled up with saltwater. The only thing on your mind was 'I don't want to die.'

You saw a streak of red before everything went black.

*Le timeskip for the third freaking time*

"Come on,breathe!" You heard a voice say.

You slowly opened your eyes and started to cough up water.

"About time you woke up,ragazza stupida." the voice said.

You sat up and look at the person who supposedly save you.It took a few seconds for your vision to focus on him. He had dark brown hair,with a weird curl sticking out on the right side of his head.He also had amber colored eyes.Judging from his accent,you assumed he was Italian.Despite his good looking appearance, he was quite rude.

"That's not nice thing to say to someone you just saved." You said.

"Just because I saved you,doesn't mean I have to be nice.You should've been more careful, idiota."

"You're such an ass! I guess thanking you isn't nessesary anymore." You stood up to leave but your legs felt weak and you fell over.

"You really are a reckless idiota." the man insulted.

"Shut up,you heartless jerk!" You hissed,sitting up again.

You looked at the man again and your eyes widened at what you saw. Instead of legs, the man had a red-orange fish tail.

"What the hell!? Please tell me that's not real!" You shrieked, pointing to his tail.

"You just noticed it?" the man smirked."I don't think a costume would look this realistic"

'Now that he mentioned it,there's really no way a fake tail could look that real.'You thought.

"Oh God,me talking to a mermaid, let alone being saved by one. So cliche and not to mention just plain weird." You groaned.

"Hey,it's merMAN! Do I look like a fucking girl to you?"

"Jeez, you should've come with your own censorship." You sighed.

"Says the one who swears just as much as me."

'Well,he is an ass,but he did save my life.Might as well thank him anyway.'

"Thanksforsavingme" You muttered.

"What was that? I couldn't hear you."

"I SAID THANKS FOR SAVING ME,YOU JERK!" You practically shouted.

"You're welcome."

You gave the merman a weird look.

"See? I can be nice." he said. "I'm Lovino Vargas.What's your name,ragazza?"

'Okay,what's with the sudden mood change? Either he's bipolar or he's just a tsundere.'

"You interest me,_______" Lovino said. "Will I be able to see you again?"

You shrugged."Sure,why not?"

"________!" You heard Gilbert yell.

"Arrivederci,________" Lovino said before diving back into the ocean.

"________,are you alright? Do you need a doctor?" Gilbert asked.

"Chill out,Gil, I'm perfectly fine.I don't need a doctor." You replied.

"Mein Gott,_______.You scared us." Gilbert sighed.

"I know,sorry about that." You apoligized.

"It's pretty deep where you fell, how did you end up over here?" Arthur asked.

You froze. You didn't want to tell them about Lovino. One of the reasons being, they wouldn't believe you.

"I really don't remember." You lied "Let's just go,I'm tired."

"Okay,whatever you say." Elizabeta said.

You felt a rough tongue lick your face.

"See? Even the cat's worried about you." Herecles said, holding the cat up to your face.

You pettted the cat's head,making it purr "Aww,thanks,Cat."

You and your friends walked back to the house. Little did you know,Lovino was sitting on a rock,his tail swaying from side to side, watching you leave.
